Everyone is Kind of Obsessed With Mariska Hargitay at the Knicks Game

The New York Knicks have gotten so much support during the NBA Finals. Dedicated, hardcore fans came out in droves—from Timothée Chalamet to Law & Order star Mariska Hargitay. But the internet couldn’t get enough of Hargitay, who reportedly rushed from a Broadway show to the game in New York City.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hargitay apparently sprinted ten blocks from her Broadway show, Every Brilliant Thing. She went all the way to the Knicks game at Madison Square Garden. It’s dedication at its finest. The SVU star admitted that the ten-block sprint was no easy feat, even with Kobe 5 Protro Jalen Brunson sneakers on.

The revelation sparked some memes online. A user on X reposted a video of Hargitay running in Law & Order, running and then slapping a guy in a basketball jersey. The caption reads, “Actual footage of Mariska running to The Garden to beat the Spurs.”

And it was worth it, the Knicks took the title in Game 5!

A mood for New Yorkers celebrating the Knicks

Another commenter on X wrote, “Mariska really just did two Broadway shows today and got her ass to the front row of the Knicks game tonight—GIRL GO TO BED!” Beside Hargitay in the game was Taylor Swift. The pop star was wearing the same “Stevie Knicks” shirt.

Another quipped, “Mariska Hargitay making it from her Broadway show to a Knicks game in 10 minutes is a living tribute to New York’s status as a walkable city.” Running a mile is a challenge in itself, but doing it in a walkable city makes all the difference.

When the Knicks won, the internet was reacting to Hargitay, who seems to have gone through the full spectrum of human emotions. After the Knicks secured the final point for their win, the actress went into the court, jumping in celebration. It seems that not even the referee of the game could contain her excitement. Hargitay was also spotted by the official NBA account hugging Knicks power forward OG Anunoby and point guard Jalen Brunson.

“Greatest night of my life!” She said post-game—which says a lot for an Emmy Award-winning actress.

Mariska Hargitay as the luckiest Knicks fan

This wouldn’t be the first time Brunson and Hargitay had a courtside embrace. Page Six asked Hargitay why Brunson only seemed to hug her after games. She explained, “They let me know that Jalen was a big fan, and I was so flattered and thrilled because I was such a huge fan. And I think Jalen sort of grew up on SVU.”

In an interview with the Roommates Show, Director Ben Stiller, who’s also a diehard Knicks fan, told Brunson about how other celebrity fans feel about the courtside hugs.

“The love Mariska Hargitay gets from you post-game is the envy of every other Knicks fan,” Stiller said. It earned a laugh from those in the room. He added, “She gets a hug after a loss.”

“I just remember my dad always watching the show. It was like, you hear the iconic ‘dun dun’ all the time when I get in the house,” Brunson revealed. He said that he watched Hargitay’s work in the drama all the way from season one all the way through.

“I’ve always loved that show… I’ve never been super starstruck,” he revealed. Brunson joked that he expects Stiller to show up often, but Hargitay’s appearance surprised him as a fan.

“I guess I gotta come to less games,” Stiller jokingly sulked. It seems that the basketball star is just as fond of Hargitay.
