The Everyman Theatre has confirmed its beloved rock 'n' roll pantomime will return this Christmas, with a new version of Little Red Riding Hood.
The Everyman Theatre is a Liverpool icon in its own right, thanks to its commitment to entertain and enlighten the masses with a wide range of plays, shows, performances and new pieces. The Hope Street venue champions local talent, with in-house training programmes for writers, actors, technicians and more that have led to new work being staged on its legendary boards.
One staple of the Everyman calendar is its unrelentingly popular rock 'n' roll pantomime, which usually dominates the theatre across the Christmas period, from late November until January. It's a firm feature for many Liverpool families, who pack out the auditorium while sporting tinsel and light-up accessories.

This year's pantomime, Red Riding Hood, will be a little different to previous shows as, for the first time in 19 years, it won't be penned by seasoned rock 'n' roll panto writers, Mark Chatterton and Sarah Nixon. The couple were let go, with a new creative team set to bring their expertise to this year's festivities.
The multi-award-winning creative team brought together for Red Riding Hood will see new voices team up with seasoned professionals. Writer Peter Rowe has written 11 record-breaking rock 'n' roll pantos, returning to Liverpool after 25 years after having previously been artistic director at the Everyman, and most recently at the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich.
Lucy Cullingford was choreographer for the rock 'n' roll panto back in 2001 and 2002 and has since worked extensively for the RSC, National Theatre and on numerous West End and Broadway shows. Veterans of numerous past pantos, the theatres' resident sound designer Ian Davies and costume supervisor Jacquie Davies, together with actor Adam Keast, will also make a welcome return.
The production will be directed by the theatres' new creative director, Suba Das. Red Riding Hood will mark his directorial debut in his new role. The show will be at the Everyman Theatre on Hope Street from Friday, November 25 until Saturday, January 14 2023. You can book tickets here.
