If you're a social media scroller, you'll know fine well that you don't have to browse your feed for too long before stumbling upon a life hack or two - which make you question reality and your methods of doing things throughout your life.
And according to one lifestyle influencer, people around the world have been using something as simple as a colander wrong when draining water from pans.
The heavily used utensil is used for draining the likes of pasta, boiled veg and potatoes - but there isn't just one typical way of using one, as TikTok account Cooking Cards recently demonstrated.
The Daily Star reports in the clip, the page showed fans that they shouldn't be pouring the food and water into the colander, as many people assume you should. Instead, you should apparently consider putting the colander into the pan.
In the viral video, which has amassed more than 62,000 likes on the platform, the account showed how people typically use colanders - holding and tipping a pan into the bowl over the sink. Shortly afterwards, they demonstrated the 'correct' way of doing things - by placing a colander of the same rough size as a saucepan like a lid, and tipping the culinary combination into the sink.
Captioning the video, they wrote: "You've been using a colander wrong..."
And TikTok users were left flabbergasted by the life hack, swarming the comments section to dub it 'genius' and talk about their disbelief. One said: "Actual genius," while a second, added: "No more sink pasta."
A third, meanwhile went on: "Omg I didn't even know this myself."
However, others claimed that the hack was hogwash - alleging that the technique would contaminate food with bacteria. One user, said: "That base was in your bacteria-filled sink and you then put it over your pasta," while another, went on: "NOOO! You’re using the colander WRONG."
