It was an important game for us and we needed that win for our confidence. I was really pleased with the performance that we had today.
What kind of message does that send to the rest of the team when you can get a really positive result?
The result was really important. I think when you're looking at the last couple of games, and you're looking at our performances, I think this performance was good.
What we were missing was this kind of clinical finishing. I think today our game was more complete. We defended well, we used the ball quite well. We stuck together in difficult periods and when we had chances we scored in an important moment of the game. So overall, it was a really good team performance.
A special moment for Wilfried Zaha?
I was really pleased that he scored those two goals. Wilfried played really well. When I say he played really well I mean he played really well out of possession. He played with the team and he got rewarded by the two goals that he scored. That was Wilfried's best performance since I’ve been at the football club out of possession.
He was fantastic. He worked hard, he supported his teammates. With Will Hughes and Tyrick Mitchell on the left side, they all did really well.
You’ve said before you want Wilfried to step up - is today’s performance exactly what you mean by that?
Yes it was like today and in the end, he gets rewarded with the goals. But when you're looking at the first time that he defended from up front, putting the opposition players under pressure, winning free-kicks. His performance was the best since I’ve been at this football club.
Marc Guehi captain and performance?
The leadership that he is bringing into the football club, to the team and his calmness. I think him and Joachim have a really strong partnership. The more they will play together, they will have a better understanding.
The back four I think had a solid performance. We knew how good they were in the counter-attack, we knew how good they were in the one vs one and I think we managed that really well.
