Every word of family's tribute to 'beautiful and bright' Elle Edwards

The family of Elle Edwards have paid tribute to her and said they will "love and miss her forever".

On Christmas Eve, the 26-year-old was shot and killed when she was caught in crossfire at the Lighthouse Inn, in Wallasey. Elle was not believed to be the intended target of the shooting, in which four other men were also injured.

One of the victims, a 28-year-old man from Beechwood, continues to receive medical treatment. Merseyside Police arrested three people altogether, the latest being a 31-year-old man from Tranmere, who was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

Elle's dad Tim Edwards appeared at a press conference at Merseyside Police HQ in Cazneau Street today. Detective Superintendent Sue Coombs, the senior investigating officer in the case also spoke.

The tribute was read out by DS Coombs on behalf of Tim and the rest of Elle's family. They said anyone who met Elle "instantly fell in love with her" and was the "glue" which held the family together.

The tribute said: "There was no one as beautiful as our Elle May, her looks, her laugh and the way she would light up a room as soon as she walked in. She had this way about her that as soon as you met her you just instantly fell in love with her, everyone that met Elle knew how special she was.

"Her laugh was infectious anyone who was around her had a good time, she loved her life and had so many amazing plans for the future. She was only just getting started. Christmas and our family will never be the same again without her.

"She was the glue that held this big family together, from all of us. We will love and miss her forever. Our Elle May, the most beautiful and bright star out there, forever and always.

"My beautiful Elle Marlene is the love of my life and she is my world, my best friend. She will always shine and be beautiful and bright, my Elle has never gone."

So far, three people have been arrested, including a 30-year-man from Tranmere on suspicion of murder and attempted murder; a 18-year-old woman from Rock Ferry on suspicion of conspiracy to murder; and a 31-year-old man from Tranmere on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

The 30-year-old man has since been released under investigation but was also recalled to prison under the terms of his licence, while the woman has been bailed. The 31-year-old man remains in custody for questioning.

During the press conference DS Coombs has reissued an appeal for information on the whereabouts of a dark coloured Mercedes in the car park before the murder.
