The Government is facing increased pressure from both the public and opposition parties as the rental crisis continues in Ireland.
It is being claimed that Irish people are being “fleeced” by the soaring cost of living which will see their bills rise by up to €1,300 this year.
But Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said “we have to avoid a wages spiral” as it could further add to inflation.
Back in 2016, areas were labelled as 'Rent Pressure Zones' or RPZs, in reaction to the rising rental prices across the island.
In the six years since, more areas have been added from the initial five, with a total of 53 Local Electorate Areas (LEA) being labelled as such.
The following areas are considered as RPZs - in these places, annual rent increases are capped in line with the rate of general inflation or 2% a year, whichever is lower.
