June 30 has arrived and a pivotal moment in the futures of many footballers. The end of the month brings with it the end of many contracts and as a result footballing stars looking to pastures new for their future.
Earlier in the month, Chelsea confirmed the players who would be released from the club, though three players were under contract offers and grouped with those considered as retained. No agreement has been forthcoming with those players thus far. N'Golo Kante has already been officially confirmed as an Al-Ittihad player, while there has be no resolution to the futures of Malik Mothersille or Tudor Mendel-Idowu. It has been suggested the latter could yet move into education, he is an Eton King's Scholar, meaning it may even be the middle of August before his future is firmly established.
For the moment the trio join 13 other players as being out of contract. They are: Derrick Abu, Prince Adegoke, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Nathan Baxter, Juan Castillo, Bryan Fiabema, Joe Haigh, Henry Lawrence, Sam McClelland, Dujon Sterling, Silko Thomas, Ethan Wady and Jayden Wareham.
