Every country that has qualified for World Cup Qatar 2022 as Scotland aim to join them

All but five of the the 32 teams are now decided for the first ever winter World Cup with the draw for the highly anticipated event taking place in Qatar on April 1.

And we still hold out hope that Scotland will be among the teams with their encounter with Ukraine set for June before the winner takes on Wales.

There was drama last night as countries fates were decided by playoff's, away goals and penalty shoot outs.

Record Sport takes a look at the teams that will be there.

Senegal, Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco and Tunisia triumphed in Africa after dramatic playoff's.

In CONCACAF, Canada booked their first World Cup spot since 1986 after beating Jamaica 4-0, with Mexico and USA set to join them. Costa Rica need to beat USA by six clear goals on the final matchday.

Qualification in South America can be tricky with 10 teams vying it out in one league, however the top four were decided before all the fixtures were even fulfilled.

The star-studded sides of Argentina and Brazil guaranteed top two finishes having gone the campaign unbeaten. While Ecuador and Uruguay secured third and fourth respectively, but they cannot be caught by the chasing pack and will therefore be at Qatar.

Peru have secured a World Cup qualifying play-off spot with Australia the likely opponents.

Four teams have qualified from Asia. While another will be decided via a play-off final.

South Korea went unbeaten and topped Group A, finishing a point ahead of Iran. While Japan won in Group B with Saudi Arabia runners-up.

The Oceania Football Confederation is the only one without a guaranteed place at the World Cup.

However, New Zealand and Solomon Islands will play out the Oceania final for a place in the June 12/13 inter-confederation play-off against the fourth-placed side from CONCACAF, likely to be Costa Rica. The winner of this play-off will qualify for the World Cup.

While in Europe, ten teams qualified automatically from their groups and two followed through the play-offs, with Scotland still to face Ukraine in the summer to set up a final play-off final with Wales, who defeated Austria in the semi-final.

FIFA say it will now organise the Scotland-Ukraine game for June during the next fixture dates protected for national teams. Although the ongoing conflict with Russia raises a sense of doubt over the probability of the clash going ahead.

Germany and Denmark were the first European sides to book their place in Qatar, with 27 points out of a possible 30 in qualifying, while Belgium, England, France, Serbia, and Switzerland all recorded unbeaten qualifying campaigns.

And here's the European side's who Scotland will be hoping to join in Qatar.

Belgium

Belgium qualified as group E winners. This could be the last chance for this 'golden generation' to make a serious impact on the international stage.

Croatia

Croatia qualified as Group H winners to add to their five World Cup appearances (1998, 2002, 2006, 2014 and 2018) since gaining independence in 1991.

Denmark

Denmark reached the Finals as Group F winners, running away with a group that involved Steve Clarke's side.

They were everyone's favourite second side at the Euros and the return of Christian Eriksen makes it a fairytale story.

England

England qualified as Group I winners as they look to end a 56 year wait to lift the World Cup.

Can Gareth Southgate's side go one better than their Euro 2020 runners up spot this time around?

France

World Cup holders France made it through as Group D winners.

On paper, Didier Deschamps' reigning world champions have the strongest squad going into the tournament, but that was also the case at Euro 2020 and they were knocked out in the round of 16 by Switzerland.

Germany

Germany qualified as Group J winners. The 2014 Champions still rely on the goals of Thomas Muller but also have a host of talented players in their ranks hoping to set the tournament alight.

Netherlands

The Netherlands qualified as Group G winners, ending an eight-year absence from the tournament.

Poland

Poland secured their place at Qatar with a play-off victory over Sweden after finishing second behind England in Group I.

Portugal

Portugal needed a play-off victory over Macedonia to progress to Qatar after finishing second in Group A.

Macedonia shocked Europe by knocking out Euro 2020 winners Italy in the play-off semi final but couldn't provide another scalp against Ronaldo and Co.

Serbia

Serbia qualified as surprise Group A winners, pipping Euro 2016 champions Portugal to top spot.

Spain

World Cup 2010 winners Spain qualified as Group B winners and with a new breed of stars, they will be fearing no-one when Friday's draw comes.

Switzerland

Switzerland qualified as Group C winners, finishing two points ahead of Italy - who also went through qualifying unbeaten.
