Everton vs Chelsea LIVE

Everton striker Beto scored twice on Saturday to consign Chelsea to a fourth straight defeat in all competitions. Beto broke the deadlock just after the half hour mark with a superb dinked finish and then doubled Everton’s lead mid-way through the second half with an effort that squeezed under Robert Sanchez.

Iliman Ndiaye then put the icing on the cake of a impressive performance from the home side, piling on the misery for Chelsea who have now beaten beaten by Newcastle and twice by Paris Saint-Germain in the last ten days, increasing the pressure on head coach Liam Rosenior in the process.

Everton, meanwhile, have now won back-to-back home games for the first time in the Premier League this season are are now just two points behind Chelsea in the table. European qualification remains a possibility for the Toffees, and they have to be considered as legitimate contenders in the Champions League race given the results from this weekend. Dear oh dear. When are we gonna be able to stop talking about Chelsea's goalkeepers? A howler that makes anything other than defeat here this evening extremely unlikely now...

18:52 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

62 min: GOALLLLLLL

Beto at the double as his effort squeezes under Robert Sanchez and the Chelsea goalkeeper can't stop the ball from crossing the line.

Dom Smith at Hill Dickinson Stadium

18:50 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Second time during the game that Pickford has denied Fernandez with a brilliant save. Key moment of the game, this, for Chelsea, who really need to turn the screw now if they're going to have any chance of winning this match from behind. Half an hour left.

Everton 1-0 Chelsea

18:50 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

60 min: Fernandez in a bit of space, bends an effort towards the far post but Pickford springs to his left to make a save. Stop is made even better by Joao Pedro being right in front of the keeper.

18:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

51 min: Space for Dewsbury-Hall to exploit down the left but his lack of pace catches up to him. Everton are then guilty of trying to be too cute with their final ball, letting Chelsea off the hook.

Everton 1-0 Chelsea

18:37 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

48 min: McNeil is inches away from picking out Beto’s run into the box but his lofted pass is headed behind by Hato for a corner which the Everton No7 swings to the back post where Tarkowski heads the ball down but Sanchez reacts quicker than Beto.

Dom Smith at Hill Dickinson Stadium

18:35 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

An interesting half-time substitution from Rosenior tactically. It'll be interesting to see how this now changes Chelsea's approach and whether it can get them back into this contest.

Everton 1-0 Chelsea

18:10 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

40 min: Beto comes off worse after jumping for the ball with Hato. Hard landing for the Everton goalscorer and he will need some treatment from the medical staff before continuing.

Dom Smith at Hill Dickinson Stadium

18:06 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

More poor defending from Fofana allows Beto away, and Everton the lead that their strong start deserved. Chelsea will have to come from behind to have success this evening now.

Everton 1-0 Chelsea

18:06 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

36 min: From provider to hero as Garner gets back to concede a corner before Pickford pulls off another superb reaction save to keep out Fernandez’s effort.

GOAL! Everton 1-0 Chelsea | Beto ‘33

18:05 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

33 min: EVERTON LEAD!

Home side in front as James Garner slides in Beto and he produces a lovely dinked finish over Robert Sanchez.

Everton striker then hits the LeBron James 'silencer' celebration.

Dom Smith at Hill Dickinson Stadium

18:02 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Joao Pedro has had the fewest touches of any player in these opening 30 minutes, and I think that says a lot about how Chelsea have played. It's not been vintage, though they are growing now.

Everton 0-0 Chelsea

17:59 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

30 min: Caicedo lofts a hopeful cross into the air and Tarkowski is forced to put it behind for a corner. Fernandez takes, Pickford unconvincing and a goalmouth scramble ensues before Joao Pedro has a shot saved.

Everton 0-0 Chelsea

17:58 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

27 min: Great flick by Palmer to send Joao Pedro free, the Brazilian cuts inside and takes on the shot with his left foot but the effort is blocked by Tarkowski.

Everton 0-0 Chelsea

17:56 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Everton 0-0 Chelsea

17:53 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Everton 0-0 Chelsea

17:51 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

21 min: Much better from Chelsea as Lavia finds Palmer in between the lines, allowing the midfielder to turn and drive at the Everton defence but his run is halted by Gana and a free-kick is not forthcoming.

Dom Smith at Hill Dickinson Stadium

17:49 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Fofana really is in a poor period of form right now. Off-form in Paris and against Newcastle, dropped at home against PSG, and an error-prone start here against Everton.

Needs to try and turn a corner in the remainder of this match.

Everton 0-0 Chelsea

17:48 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

18 min: Chelsea being asked to dig in here as Mykolenko stands up a cross into the box for Tarkowski to head down but no Everton team-mate can win the second ball before the visitors clear their lines.

Everton 0-0 Chelsea

17:44 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

14 min: Chelsea with a bit of sustained pressure but Caicedo gives it away and is able to breath a huge sigh of relief after Everton are unable to take advantage of the situation before Garner has a shot blocked by Gusto after another careless giveaway from the away side.

Dom Smith at Hill Dickinson Stadium

17:41 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Sanchez with a completely unforced error there, giving the ball away to Beto and so fortunate he was able to tackle the striker to get it back. Chelsea have started so sluggishly.

Everton 0-0 Chelsea

17:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

10 min: Loud cheers from the Everton supporters as Fofana, unchallenged, heads the ball behind for a corner which is taken by Garner but Hato makes first contact before Chelsea win a free-kick.

Sanchez then almost gifts Beto the ball but is extremely lucky to survive that.

Dom Smith at Hill Dickinson Stadium

17:37 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Caicedo drags the ball wide from range with what feels like Chelsea's first venture into the Everton final third after six minutes.

The hosts have started better here, Fofana guilty of giving the ball away a couple of times already.

Everton 0-0 Chelsea

17:37 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

7 min: Chelsea put together a passing sequence and it gets them up the pitch but Caicedo drags an effort wide from range. That was rather speculative from the midfielder.

Everton 0-0 Chelsea

17:35 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

4 min: CHANCE! Everton win the ball high up but Dewsbury-Hall’s run into the box is halted right before he can get a shot away.

Everton 0-0 Chelsea

17:33 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

3 min: Concern for Chelsea as Gusto lands awkwardly following an aerial duel with Mykolenko. Thankfully, the Frenchman is back up on his feet and fine to continue.

Everton 0-0 Chelsea

17:31 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

1 min: Everton immediately on the attack but Beto ignores Ndiaye to his left and the move eventually breaks down and Chelsea get enough bodies back to clear the danger.

17:10 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Chelsea and the rest of the Premier League sides mourning their lost Champions League campaigns this week have been handed a major boost ahead of next season.

England’s top flight saw the Blues, Tottenham, Manchester City and Newcastle all crash out of Europe’s elite competition across Tuesday and Wednesday.

Yet despite the Premier League sides’ premature exits, England’s top division is still set to have five Champions League places up for grabs next season.

Chelsea and Strasbourg fans to join forces in protest against BlueCo

17:05 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Strasbourg ultras will jet into London next month to join Chelsea fans in a protest against the BlueCo ownership group.

Chelsea and Strasbourg are co-owned under the controversial BlueCo multi-club ownership network.

There has been a steady stream of player loans and transfers between the two sides, with Chelsea regularly taking the Ligue 1 outfit’s top talents and, more recently, nicking their manager, Liam Rosenior - a move which enraged Strasbourg supporters.

Both Manchester United and Liverpool have dropped points this weekend, leaving the door open for Chelsea to capitalise.

If the Blues manage to beat Everton this evening they will end the day in fourth, four points behind Man United.

Chelsea owners suffer biggest humbling on humiliating night

16:00 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

There are some things in football that money can’t buy. The problem for Chelsea’s owners is that a very good team is supposed to be one of the things it can, writes Dom Smith.

The BlueCo consortium led by Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali’s Clearlake Capital has spent £1.5billion on players since buying the club in 2022, but Chelsea still look miles off the best sides in Europe after their Champions League humbling against Paris Saint-Germain.

An 8-2 aggregate defeat was a humiliation that raised serious questions about whether the project at Stamford Bridge is a work in progress or regress.

Liam Rosenior reveals 'exciting' Chelsea transfer talks

15:55 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Liam Rosenior says he is “excited” by the “detailed conversations” he has been having with Chelsea’s sporting directors about potential summer signings.

How Chelsea will strengthen their squad at the end of the season has come sharply into focus this week after the Blues crashed out of the Champions League at the round of 16 after an 8-2 aggregate drubbing at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea have spent £1.5billion since the BlueCo consortium bought the club in May 2022 and further spending is expected this summer.

More on that here!

Predicted Chelsea XI

15:50 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Liam Rosenior is expected to name a strong team, which could include a return for Estevao, who has not played since the middle of last month due to a hamstring injury.

There could be another run out at centre-back for Jorrel Hato, while Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernandez will be good to go after being taken off with half an hour to go on Tuesday to give them a rest.

It is unclear whether Jamie Gittens is available.

Chelsea predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; Gusto, Fofana, Hato, Cucurella; Santos, Caicedo; Palmer, Fernandez, Neto; Joao Pedro.

Chelsea pay tribute to Silvino Louro

15:45 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Silvino Louro, Jose Mourinho’s long-time goalkeeping coach at the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United, has died.

Silvino’s passing at the age of 67 following an illness was announced on Thursday night.

The Portuguese was a valued member of Mourinho’s backroom staff across his compatriot’s illustrious managerial career between 2001-18, working with him across a number of Europe’s biggest clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Porto.

Opportunity knocks for a Jorrel Hato after Chelsea blow

15:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

At another time, or at another club, the signing of Jorrel Hato might well have prompted far greater fanfare, writes Dom Smith.

When Chelsea signed him from Ajax in August, it brought to an end months of the Dutchman’s name being bandied around and linked with a host of top clubs. He was, after all, considered one of the brightest young defenders on the continent.

Instead, his arrival brought a somewhat underwhelming reaction. When you are a club’s eighth signing in a single summer window, taking that team’s total spending above the £250million mark, it can be hard to stand out.

But Hato’s chance may finally have come.

Everton vs Chelsea latest match odds

15:30 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Everton to win: 2/1

Chelsea to win: 11/10

Draw: 2/1

Odds via Betfair (subject to change).

Head to head (h2h) history and results

15:25 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

In the past ten meetings between these clubs, Everton has won just twice: 1-0 in 2022, and 2-0 in 2023.

Both of those results came at their old stomping ground Goodison Park, where Chelsea - who have a much better recent home record against this opponent, including a 6-0 triumph in 2024 - actually emerged victorious from only one of their final eight visits (D2, L5).

The Toffees have been better on the road this term (W7, D3, L5) than at their new home (W5, D4, L6), though, and one of their six away losses came against the Blues in December.

Last season, the corresponding fixture last season ended in a goalless stalemate.

Everton wins: 60

Chelsea wins: 78

Draws: 57

Score prediction

15:20 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Chelsea's notably low tally of clean sheets under Liam Rosenior (one in 14 league matches) suggests they may struggle to keep the Toffees out, so scoring against Everton - who beat Burnley in their last home game but have generally struggled when hosting the so-called bigger clubs this term - is a must.

The Toffees will be thinking similarly, particularly with backline absences for both sides, so we’re expecting a high-scoring evening that the visitors may just edge thanks to the comparatively superior quality of their attack.

Chelsea to win, 3-2.

Everton team news

15:15 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

David Moyes is hopeful James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite will be fit after the Everton pair missed last week's loss to Arsenal.

Jack Grealish, continuing his rehabilitation from a stress fracture in his foot, and Charly Alcaraz, will miss out.

Chelsea team news

15:10 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Chelsea will be without a number of key players for their crucial Premier League fixture at Everton.

Reece James remains out with a hamstring of his own, though Liam Rosenior has explained it is “not serious” and will be more closely monitored after the international break.

Trevoh Chalobah is expected to miss around six weeks with the high ankle sprain that forced him off late on against PSG. Filip Jorgensen has had minor surgery on a groin injury so is unavailable, as is Levi Colwill who is training following an ACL injury but will not play yet for a good few weeks.

Malo Gusto missed the PSG defeat with illness but trained on Thursday and should return to the starting lineup at right-back.
