Former Manchester City winger and Talksport pundit Trevor Sinclair says Steve Cooper is better equipped to do a job at Everton than Frank Lampard.
Everton are still on the lookout for a new manager after sacking Rafa Benitez with Lampard and Derby boss Wayne Rooney both having been linked with the position.
Vitor Pereira and Lampard remain the favourites with the latter having been out of work since leaving Chelsea.
But Sinclair feels that Cooper's remarkable job at the City Ground has proven he has the experience to steady the ship better than the Chelsea legend.
"He (Lampard) is a risk because he is a young manager,” said Sinclair. “And he has only been at two clubs.
“I would say someone like a Steve Cooper, who is doing really well at Nottingham Forest. I think he is doing exceptionally well there.
“When he went in they were second from bottom and he has done an absolutely superb job there.
“There are other candidates that could steady that ship maybe better than Frank (Lampard)."
Cooper has done a remarkable job at the Reds since being appointed as Chris Hughton's successor and has led Forest to eighth in the table.
Tuesday night's win over Barnsley left them a point off the play-offs while Forest also knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup earlier this month thanks to a 1-0 win over the Gunners at the City Ground.
