Everton starting line-up vs Aston Villa confirmed as Duncan Ferguson names new captain

Duncan Ferguson has made five changes to the Everton side as he begins his second stint as caretaker manager.

The Blues welcome Aston Villa to Goodison this lunchtime and Big Dunc - as he promised - has made tweaks to the side that lost against Norwich City last weekend.

Captain Seamus Coleman has been dropped to the bench and is replaced in the side by Jonjoe Kenny. Yerry Mina comes back into the starting line-up and is skipper. Michael Keane has been dropped.

There are also recalls for Mason Holgate, Andros Townsend and Richarlison - as Ferguson looks to set Everton up in a 4-4-2 formation.

Jordan Pickford is in goal and plays behind a defence of Kenny, Mina, Holgate and Ben Godfrey.

Abdoulaye Doucoure and Andre Gomes continue in midfield with Townsend and Demarai Gray on the wings.

Richarlison looks set to partner Dominic Calvert-Lewin up front.

There is no Vitalii Mykolenko or Nathan Patterson, both January recruits, in the squad while Anwar El Ghazi is ineligible to face his parent club.

Everton subs: Begovic, Keane, Allan, Coleman, Gordon, Gbamin, Rondon, Dobbin, Onyango.
