Everton star praises two Manchester United players for performances in 2-1 win

Manchester United duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro were praised for their quality by Everton winger Andros Townsend following the two sides' meeting on Sunday night.

Erik ten Hag's men came from behind to beat the Toffees at Goodison Park, with Antony and Ronaldo both getting on the scoresheet for the away side.

Former Real Madrid duo Ronaldo and Casemiro combined for the Portugal international's winning goal on the stroke of half-time, with the Brazilian midfielder winning possession before delivering an inch-perfect pass to his teammate.

Ronaldo, who had only been on the pitch for 15 minutes after replacing the injured Anthony Martial, slid the ball under Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to grab his 700th goal in club football.

Antony's first-half strike came after Alex Iwobi was caught in possession after trying to take on Casemiro. The former Arsenal man - who gave Frank Lampard's side the lead in the match - was visibly frustrated after being dispossessed, with his teammate Townsend admitting that the Nigerian was 'devastated'.

Townsend, who is currently sidelined with a cruciate knee ligament injury, told The Final Word that the 26-year-old was annoyed about his role in United's first goal.

Despite this, the ex-Tottenham man praised Casemiro and Ronaldo for the quality they displayed during the Reds' victory over the Merseyside outfit.

"So clinical. Alex was devastated after the match, giving away the ball and conceding a goal. It was an unbelievable ball from Casemiro and for Ronaldo, so clinical, on his weaker left foot as well, it was heart-breaking to watch," said Townsend.
