Everton's final Premier League position predicted by supercomputer

A supercomputer has attempted to predict where Everton will finish in the Premier League this season.

The Blues are gearing up for the new campaign, which begins this weekend against Chelsea. Everton take on Frank Lampard’s former club at Goodison Park, with their pre-season campaign now completed.

Everton go into the game on the back of a 3-0 friendly win over Dynamo Kyiv last week. Lampard and co will be looking for a significantly improved finish on last season’s efforts, which saw the Blues narrowly avoid relegation to the Championship after finishing in 16th place.

With the new season just a few days away, a website has attempted to predict how the final table will look. Respected statistics and analysis website FiveThirtyEight has forecast the final standings in the Premier League this season, based on a complex model which takes into account a host of factors.

They have crunched the numbers and predicted that Everton will finish in the bottom half of the league table. With 42 points, the Blues have been tipped to finish 15th place in the table and narrowly avoid relegation once again.

In the prediction, it has been tipped that all three newly-promoted clubs – Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest – will be the ones to finish in the drop zone and return to the Championship.

At the top end of the table, Manchester City are predicted to win the title with 85 points. This is ahead of Liverpool, who are tipped to amass 80 points and finish in second place.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are the other teams predicted to make up the Champions League spots in the top four. Fifth place is tipped to go to Arsenal, while sixth place goes to Manchester United.
