Just seven days after their best display of the season, Everton slumped to yet another limp performance in what has been a miserable campaign by losing 2-0 at Southampton.
Following the 3-0 thrashing of Leeds United at Goodison Park, hopes were high that Everton might be able to record back-to-back victories for the first time since they defeated Brighton & Hove Albion and Burnley on August 28 and September 13 respectively (there was an international break in between) but instead their travel sickness under Frank Lampard continued.
The Blues haven’t triumphed in the Premier League away from Goodison since the aforementioned success in Sussex at the end of last summer and have lost both fixtures on the road since the former Derby County and Chelsea boss took charge, with a 3-1 reversal at Newcastle United previously.
