Jordan Pickford 4
Went on to make the kind of saves that show why he’s going into a second straight World Cup as England’s number one but neither Everton fans – or their Bournemouth counterparts who taunted him after their side’s first goal – will remember that from this match as his uncharacteristic blunder, spilling a shot from Dominic Solanke, enabling Marcus Tavernier to poke in the rebound, put the visitors firmly on the back foot in this high stakes game.
Nathan Patterson 5
Along with Neal Maupay, the young Scot was one of just two survivors from the Carabao Cup humbling in the starting line-up but despite his endeavours, he was unable to find anywhere near the kind of space he ran into that night in what was a much more frantic encounter.
Vitalii Mykolenko 5
Battled hard and got forward with purpose in the opening stages but forced off after Bournemouth’s second goal after injuring himself going up for a header with scorer Kieffer Moore and team-mate Conor Coady.

Conor Coady 4
Everton’s other member of the England World Cup squad, alongside Mykolenko he was beaten in the aerial challenge with Moore for the second goal and his usually so solid partnership with Tarkowski was opened up for the second straight weekend.
James Tarkowski 4
Didn’t cover himself in glory in the build-up to the first goal as Solanke escaped his attentions, was down on the turf injured for the second but played on and then held his hand up after the third as he was left marking Marcos Senesi as Jaidon Anthony was left alone in the box to head home.
Idrissa Gueye 5
Heading into the World Cup with Senegal but after fighting back to fitness to return to the side here, he was left on the back foot too often, having to try and put fires out and often not succeeding.
Amadou Onana 5
Like Gueye he returned from injury to get himself back for this crucial final World Cup fixture before joining up with the Belgium squad but deployed in a more-advanced role again, this just left gaps in the middle and he fell the full force of a Lewis Cook challenge deemed reckless but not serious foul play before making way in the second half.
Alex Iwobi 5
Tried to be enterprising with his passing but found himself completely overrun as Bournemouth took control and kept Everton almost continuously on the back foot.
Demarai Gray 5
Provided Everton’s only spark on a miserable night on Tuesday by coming off the bench and scoring but his frustrations here were epitomised by a wild shot that was way off target midway through the second half, prompting home fans to ask: “What the f****** hell was that?”
Dwight McNeil 5
His cross to Maupay to fashion an early chance was quickly forgotten among the chaos that ensued and despite putting in another hard-working shift out wide, his supply line quickly dried up.
Neal Maupay 5
Had an early opportunity to break the deadlock with a shot on the spin but after that effort flew off target, it was another difficult outing for him as he was unable to unlock the home defence.
Seamus Coleman (on 29 for Mykolenko) 6
Came off the bench to play out of position at left-back with his side already 2-0 down, the veteran captain led by example but others were unable to follow.
Tom Cannon (on 74 for Maupay) 7
Premier League debut came hot on the heels of his senior bow here on Tuesday – with a brace against Paris Saint-Germain for the Under-21s in between – and he went close with a header from a Gordon cross soon after going on, providing Everton’s otherwise toothless attack with a different dimension.
Anthony Gordon (on 74 for McNeil) 6
Managed what Everton’s starting wingers had failed to do by supplying a decent cross for a striker to get an effort on target.
Abdoulaye Doucoure (on 74 for Onana) 5
A late run-out for the midfielder but the game was gone.
