Everton player ratings as Seamus Coleman sensational and three others great against Leeds

Jordan Pickford 7

It was testament to how Everton defended that other than a few routine takes, he was largely untested.

Seamus Coleman 9

Sensational strike from the captain to beat Illan Meslier from the tightest of angles out wide, he’d already been getting forward to good effect for most of the afternoon.

Vitalii Mykolenko 8

Had a couple of shaky moments early on but grew into the game, putting in a decent cross to pick out Neal Maupay.

Conor Coady 8

Steady, unflustered performance despite the high stakes, he kept his head throughout.

James Tarkowski 8

Dominant defensive display against Patrick Bamford, winning plenty of headers and remaining strong.

Idrissa Gueye 7

Had hearts in mouths with a couple of misplaced back passes but was more like his old self, operating well in tight spaces and picking out Onana for a good chance after nutmegging Maximilian Wober.

Abdoulaye Doucoure 7

Booked for getting involved in a touchline spat shortly before the break, he provided nuisance value in a busy engine room but should have shown more conviction to finish when played in one-on-one by substitute Simms.

Amadou Onana 7

Spurned a big chance when leaning back on a shot after being picked out by Gueye, he was a threat running at Leeds from deep until having to make way.

Dwight McNeil 7

Put in an industrious shift and his deliveries from out wide continue to by a threat even if they’re not always finding a man, he was booked for a fracas in which Tyler Adams – who twice raised his hands to him – also picked up a yellow card.

Alex Iwobi 7

Has an assist to his name as the man who passed to Coleman for his goal but for all his hard-running, he could do with a few more passes hitting the mark.

Neal Maupay 7

Battling display up front, he worked a couple of openings in the second half to get shots on target in difficult circumstances with the team not naturally playing to his strengths.

Tom Davies (on 73 for Onana) 7

Provided fresh legs after replacing Onana.

Ellis Simms (on 81 for Maupay) 7

Put himself about late on and his flicked played in Doucoure for a big chance.
