Everton player ratings as Alex Iwobi impressive again but team-mate far too quiet

Jordan Pickford - 6

Wasn't asked to do much in terms of shot-stopping as Watford hardly had any attempts on goal of note. His distribution was as solid as ever, with one particular pass out to Anthony Gordon on the flank the highlight in the first half.

Seamus Coleman - 6

Had something of a nervy start but got through it and improved as the first half went on. He shouldn't have been booked in the second half after a collision with Dan Gosling, but never let that get in his way as he completed another mature 90 minutes for his side.

Michael Keane - 6

Has won a lot of headers to stop Watford building more potentially dangerous attacks early in the first half, and generally offered a cool head in the defence for his side. He did bring an aerial threat for a couple of set pieces too, but Everton's delivery was regularly poor in trying to find him.

Mason Holgate - 6

Was really unlucky to get booked for what looked like a good tackle midway through the first half. Aside from that he was solid again and continued the strong run of form that he has recently found himself in.

Vitalii Mykolenko - 6

As you'd expect he had a couple of long-range attempts as he tried to join the attack, but none as successful as his effort a few days ago. Defensively he was hardly ever troubled as Watford couldn't really create down his flank.

Alex Iwobi - 7

Certainly was Everton's brightest player throughout the match, getting forward on numerous occasions. Perhaps he should have been used higher up the pitch, though, because the visitors really missed his influence in breaking down the defence.

Fabian Delph - 7

Another really solid display in central midfield. He won the ball back well with some good tackles and interceptions, and was efficient when he found himself in possession. The movement in front of him was often very static, however.

Abdoulaye Docuoure - 6

A decent enough return to his former side in the centre of the pitch, making sure he put in a number of clever interceptions to stop attacks. He got forward on a couple of occasions in the second half particularly but couldn't turn it into a chance for his teammates or goal for himself.

Demarai Gray - 5

Had a few bright runs at the Watford defence, but too often his final ball was sloppy and pounced upon eagerly by the defenders in front of him. Everton need his final pass to be much better than that in the future. He squandered his side's best chance of the game.

Anthony Gordon - 5

Another who had a few bright sparks, but again his final ball seriously let him down when it mattered. A few occasions could have seen him pick his head up quicker than he eventually did to perhaps create an opening, but he failed to do so.

Richarlison - 5

Didn't have much opportunity to threaten Ben Foster's goal as the service to him was so often poor. He put in some hard work especially in the first half, but was far too quiet in the second period when the Blues were looking for a goal.

SUBS

Dominic Calvert-Lewin - N/A

Won a few headers after being brought on but wasn't given enough chance to affect the game.

Allan - N/A

Similarly to Calvert-Lewin, hardly got an opportunity to make an impact here.
