Everton plan to develop youngster explained as 'asking price set' for midfielder

It's time for your Everton morning headlines on Friday, December 2.

Everton plan to make in-demand striker faster, stronger and more ruthless explained

Paul Tait has no doubt what the result will be when clinical Tom Cannon gets a chance in front of goal.

The Everton Under-21s boss praised his star forward after his latest strike sealed the side's 2-1 win over Mansfield Town in the Papa Johns Trophy at Goodison Park on Wednesday. The 19-year-old kept his composure to slot past Scott Flinders as the Blues scored twice in stoppage time to complete a dramatic comeback.

The goal was the latest evidence to showcase Cannon's talent. It ended a remarkable November in which he made his senior debut at Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup and then his Premier League debut against the same opponent days later. The teenager then scored his first senior goal in the 5-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers on the Blues' Australia tour.

Speaking shortly after watching Cannon send his team into the last 16 of the Papa Johns Trophy, Tait said: "When he gets in those positions there is no doubt - normally he is going to score. I'm delighted with him and he showed great character going off and getting a whack. I don't know if he got stitched but he had the bandage on and he was straight back into the action and scores the goal."

The January transfer window promises to be a busy month for the Blues, with Frank Lampard likely to be keen to strengthen his squad. The Everton boss spoke about the club’s transfer plans during their recent tour of Australia.

One player whose long-term future at Goodison Park remains uncertain is Gbamin. The midfielder is currently on loan at Turkish club Trabzonspor for the remainder of the season.

According to a report from Turkey, Everton have listed their asking price for Gbamin to leave the club permanently. It has been claimed by 61Saat that the Blues would demand a fee in the region of €5m-€7m (£4m-£6m).
