The roof truss lifts are continuing this week at Everton Stadium as the second section was hoisted into position in the south stand.
The central piece of the first truss at what will be Everton’s 52,888 capacity new home at Bramley-Moore Dock now sits on top of the support trestles rising from the terracing units and has been conjoined to the larger 100-tonne steel section already in situ in the south east corner.
The lifts have, so far, alternated between the two steel-built stands at either end of the stadium, and the latest lift means the south stand now mirrors the developments in the north.

Temporary steel bracing is helping to secure the trusses, until the whole truss assembly and roof barrel are complete and able to support their own weight.
In total, there are two full-span roof trusses to be installed in the north stand and three in the south. Each truss consists of three sections, with the first lift having taking place recently, just six months after the first steel super-column was bolted into the north stand foundations.
Construction partner Laing O’Rourke have been planning the operation for two years and hope to have all five of the full-span roof trusses installed by Easter 2023. As work on the roof accelerates, the roof panelling is following quickly behind, with the first liner sheets to aid with the roof build-up slotted into place.
The next steps will be to install the third pre-assembled sections of steel, each weighing around 100 tonnes, in both stands and complete the first trusses.
