Everton will be looking to improve their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window to avoid any repeat of last season's relegation battle.
The Toffees survival bid went down to the wire last season as they lurked around the bottom three of the Premier League table, but three wins in their last six games confirmed their safety for the upcoming campaign. Richarlison played a major part in helping keep Everton up, but the Brazilian has been strongly linked with a move away from Merseyside this summer.
This will be Frank Lampard 's first summer transfer window with Everton. Ahead of the window, the Toffees have been linked with a handful of different players including Conor Gallagher, Noa Lang, Florian Grilitsch and James Tarkowski.

Everton brought in five new players in the summer transfer window, and their smart spending saw them make the most of available free agents, spending just £50m in total. After being relegated from the Premier League, the Toffees signed Ismaila Sarr for £22m, almost half of what his evaluated price was when the Hornets were in the top division.
A new right wing-back was brought in as they signed Rick Karsdorp from Roma for £14m, and after a successful loan spell at Sporting Lisbon, Pablo Sarabia was signed from PSG for a bargain fee of £13.75m. After being released by their respective clubs at the end of their contracts, Lampard also brought English duo James Tarkowski and Jesse Lingard to Goodison Park to add depth and Premier League experience to their squad.

Five players departed on permanent deals during the summer transfer window, with one major outgoing earning the Toffees more money than they spent in the entire window. After playing a vital part in Everton's Premier League survival, Richarlison departed for Barcelona in the simulation for £56m.
Mason Holgate joined the Brazilian in Spain as he moved to Almeria for £4.6m, and Seamus Coleman, Asmir Begovic and Nathan Broadhead all left the club for minimal fees. First-team players Andre Gomes and Demari Gray were sent out on loan for the season, whilst youth players Ellis Simms, Reece Welch, Ryan Astley and Lewis Gibson also left on loan to find some first-team football elsewhere.
So, how did Everton line up in their first game after the 2022/23 transfer window? Let's take a look.
Everton's XI at the beginning of the 2022/23 season predicted
In the first game after the transfer window, Lampard started four of his five new signings, with Jesse Lingard missing out on the starting XI. Karsdorp and Tarkowski started in defence, whilst Sarr and Sarabia both started on the wings in a 2-2 draw with Newcastle.
Everton's line-up in the first game of the 2022/23 season was as follows: Pickfrod; Karsdorp, Godfrey, Tarkowski, Mykolenko; Allan, Doucoure; Sarabia, Alli, Sarr; Calvert-Lewin.
Football Manager 2022 predicts that the Toffees could have a profitable transfer window this summer as Richarlison departs the club for a major transfer fee. Using that money, Lampard could invest in the depth of his squad and bring in Premier League experience, whilst also targeting free agents.
