Everton learn unexpected Richarlison update ahead of Tottenham Hotspur clash

Ex-Everton forward Richarlison could make an unexpected return to Goodison Park on Monday when the Blues host Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

The Brazilian had been set to miss out on a reunion with his former club after leaving the field in tears during the early stages of Spurs' 3-3 draw with Southampton on March 18.

But according to the Evening Standard, following diagnosis, the 25-year-old's injury is not as serious as first feared and he could now be back in contention to make an appearance against the Toffees after all.

Richarlison left Merseyside for North London last summer in deal reportedly worth £60million, but since completing his big-money transfer, he has only scored two goals - both against Marseille in the same Champions League match on September 7, and only managed 10 starts under Antonio Conte.

However, on Sunday, Conte left Spurs by mutual consent, with Cristian Stellini taking over control of first team affairs alongside Ryan Mason until the end of the season.

And Richarlison will be hoping for a new start under the interim duo, starting with a trip to his old Merseyside hunting ground, should he be passed fit in time to make the squad. The South American made 152 appearances for Everton, scoring 53 goals across four seasons, before departing at the end of the previous campaign.
