It wasn't the win they desperately needed but after the 2-2 draw at fellow strugglers Leicester City, Everton remain alive in the fight for survival.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin gave the Blues a dream start by converting the penalty he won in the 15th minute. But, against the run of play, they were pegged back by Caglar Soyuncu's goal and Leicester led at the break after Jamie Vardy struck.
In fact it could have been worse for Everton had Jordan Pickford not saved a penalty from James Maddison at the end of a first half in which captain Seamus Coleman was sent off with a serious-looking leg injury.

But the Blues got the point they deserved thanks to Alex Iwobi's 54th-minute strike.
It's a point that leaves them second from bottom but now just a point away from 16th place, which is now occupied by Leicester after they leapfrogged Leeds United in the table.
