Everton’s injury concerns continue to grow as Yerry Mina is expected to spend time on the Goodison Park treatment table.
Leeds visit a weakened Toffees side at Goodison Park this weekend due to several key players picking up injuries in their 3-1 defeat at Newcastle United.
New boss Frank Lampard was forced into two first-half substitutions at St James’ Park as Mina and Demarai Gray picked up injuries.
The former Chelsea midfielder admitted he is ‘concerned’ about Mina’s knock, especially after losing Ben Godfrey - who is expected to be out for a month - to a hamstring injury against Brentford.
Speaking after the Newcastle defeat, Lampard said: “It’s a quad injury. We’re slightly concerned about it, but we’ll have to assess over the next few days.”
Gray’s injury, however, is not thought to be as bad and he could be in line to play against Leeds.
Everton are also ‘hopeful’ of £18million January signing Vitalii Mykolenko returning to action after missing the trip to Newcastle through illness.
“Demarai’s is a hip injury, which he’s had previously and come back from quickly, so we’re hopeful on that one,” Lampard added.
“It (Mykolenko’s illness) was a disruption because in terms of natural left-backs, left wing-backs, he’s the one at the club. We hope he may be back for the weekend.”
The bad news for Whites fans is that Toffees hitman Dominic Calvert-Lewin should feature.
The Three Lions striker has missed the majority of the season with a toe injury but made a brief return to action last month.
Another injury setback saw Calvert-Lewin miss Everton’s 4-1 FA Cup triumph over Brentford but he was back on the bench against Newcastle on Tuesday.
Lampard will be keen to get his number nine back in the side, with the Toffees hovering just three points above the relegation zone.
Tom Davies, Fabian Delph and Abdoulaye Doucoure remain sidelined.
