An Everton footballer who was arrested on suspicion of child sex offences has had his bail extended again, police have confirmed today.

The player cannot be named for legal reasons.

Greater Manchester Police have now confirmed his bail has now been extended until April 17, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Initially arrested on July 16, the top flight player had his bail date initially set for a month later before it was extended until October, and then January, as police continued their investigation.

"He is on police bail pending further enquiries."
