Lifelong Evertonian Pat Griffin from Aintree enjoyed a double celebration recently after turning 90 and receiving a shock telephone call from her favourite player, Anthony Gordon. The Blues winger Gordon surprised Pat to thank her for her unwavering support and confirm that she would receive a complimentary Season Ticket for the 2022/23 campaign.
As part of Everton’s announcement on 2022/23 Season Ticket renewals, it confirmed existing Season Ticket Members aged 90 and over will be able to attend league matches free of charge for the remaining years at Goodison Park and Pat, who attends every game at ‘The Grand Old Lady’, was overjoyed at her belated birthday surprise.
Daughter Kathy Weaver said: “It’s hard to explain sometimes what a huge part of our lives Everton Football Club is, and Anthony couldn’t have been nicer to mum. He was so warm, friendly and really genuine and it was just a joy. She was absolutely thrilled and totally gobsmacked. It was like watching a six-year-old opening their best present at Christmas.
