Everton dealt major Arnaut Danjuma transfer blow as Anthony Gordon speaks out

Your evening Everton headlines on Tuesday, January 24.

Arnaut Danjuma transfer hijacked as Spurs swoop before Everton seal deal

Tottenham Hotspur are attempting to make an audacious late attempt to hijack Everton’s move for Arnaud Danjuma.

The Blues – who want to bring in two attacking reinforcements this month – are hoping to make the Dutch international their first signing of the January transfer window but their plans could now be scuppered by the Londoners muscling in on their deal.

The ECHO understands that on Monday, Danjuma’s loan move from Villarreal to Everton looked close with the forward having undertaken a medical. But contrary to some reports, paperwork was not completed - and Spurs have now offered the 25-year-old the opportunity to join them with the player travelling to London to discuss a potential switch.

Although Antonio Conte has a plethora of attacking options at his disposal, including Harry Kane - who equalled Jimmy Greaves’ record as the club’s all-time top scorer last night - and Richarlison, who joined them from the Blues in a £60million deal last summer, with both Champions League and FA Cup matches to come, the Italian is eager to beef up his squad.

Anthony Gordon breaks silence on Frank Lampard sacking in emotional Everton message

Anthony Gordon became the first member of Everton’s squad to publicly speak out on the sacking of Frank Lampard.

The Blues last night confirmed that Lampard had been sacked after just under a year in charge. Lampard leaves Everton second bottom of the Premier League.

During his 357-days in charge of the club, Lampard managed just 12 victories in 44 games, and leaves the club with a win ratio worse than any permanent manager with the exception of Mike Walker.

Gordon, however, was close to Lampard during his time at the club and it is no surprise that the England Under-21 international has moved to thank his former boss, and four members of his coaching staff, for all the help and support they have shown him.
