The transfer of Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves to Nottingham Forest was almost "hijacked" by Premier League rivals Everton.
It is being reported that Everton were "pushing very hard" to "hijack" the deal last night (Thursday), matching the initial £25million up front fee that Forest had agreed with Wolves. Talks with Forest had progressed too far, though, and a move to the City Ground was virtually sealed.
That's according to the Telegraph, who also note Gibbs-White was keen to play for Cooper again and that was a deciding factor in his decision. The 22-year-old midfielder's arrival at Forest was confirmed on Friday morning.

Forest travel to Everton, of all teams, tomorrow as the teams meet in Premier League action at Goodison Park. Gibbs-White is eligible to play as he completed his transfer before the registration deadline of 12pm.
On the attempted "hijack" by Everton, the Telegraph's John Percy wrote on Twitter: "Late drama on the Morgan Gibbs-White deal. Everton were pushing very hard to hijack it last night and matched the £25m fee paid by Forest. Ultimately, MGW wanted to play for Steve Cooper again and deal with Forest too far down the line. Forest play Everton on Saturday."
