Everton and Liverpool's Premier League fixtures could both go ahead next weekend despite suggestions of a second round of games being called off.
It was announced on Friday afternoon there would be no football taking place between today and Monday in the English top-flight following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. With the country now awaiting the state funeral, concerns were raised over the potential of further football cancellations.
Everton are due to host West Ham next Sunday with Liverpool set to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, though 'major concerns' were expressed regarding whether enough police would be available to attend next week's as they prepare to be deployed on a larger scale in the capital.

King Charles III confirmed at his proclamation the Queen's funeral would be marked by a Bank Holiday for the country, the date of which was confirmed as Monday, September 19. This will therefore not clash with Everton or Liverpool's games and could pave the way for weekend matches to go ahead.
The Department of Culture, Media and Sport have reiterated their guidance in relation to the staging of Premier League games remains unchanged. Issuing a statement to football.london, the DCMS said: "Our guidance will stay the same. There's no obligation to cancel as far as the government is concerned. But it's ultimately up to the Premier League and EFL to make those decisions."
The Met Police added: "Whether matches go ahead is a matter for the football authorities. If fixtures do take place, the Met will work with the relevant partners and ensure that appropriate policing plans are in place."
