Liverpool and Everton supporters attending Saturday's Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park are being urged to take part in a minute's applause in memory of Olivia Pratt-Korbel.
Olivia, 9, was residing inside her home in Kingsheath Avenue in Dovecot on Monday, August 22 when a gunman barged into the Pratt- Korbel's family home and opened fire, hitting Olivia's mum Cheryl. Olivia was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital, where she later died.
Olivia's death has coincided with a rise in gun and knife crime in Merseyside in recent weeks, which has led to Liverpool supporters' union Spirit of Shankly and Everton's fans' forum issuing a statement asking those attending Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon to take part in a minute's applause after nine minutes of the match while signing "Merseyside" in unison.
A joint statement from both groups read: "Our City has been shaken in recent weeks by gun and knife crime, including the death of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel.
"It's time for our entire community - blue and red - to come together once again. If you know anything or have any information, please let the authorities know. Keeping quiet is not an option.
"As a mark of respect for Olivia, her family and those impacted by gun and knife crime in our city, we ask all supporters to take part in a minutes' applause and to sing "Merseyside" when the match clock reaches 9 minutes in Saturday's Merseyside Derby.
"Enough is Enough."
On Thursday, Merseyside police released CCTV footage of Olivia's killer running away from the scene and escaping through gardens.
The footage shows a man dressed in black running along Finch Lane and using gardens to escape the scene. Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Kameen says he is hoping the footage of the gunman may jog some memories, or prompt someone to recognise his clothing.
Police are also seeking to speak to a potential witness who was captured on CCTV standing on Finch Lane, near to the junction with Kingsheath Avenue, around the time of the murder.
