Andy Hunter was at the Hill Dickinson tonight. Here’s his report. Thanks for reading this MBM.
David Moyes, with an undercurrent of quiet irritation, talks to Sky Sports. “Our competitive edge … our spirit … we showed for long periods … we didn’t quite have the quality to get a goal … overall we did a good job … we tried to make it a tough game and I think it was for them … we probably started the game better than Arsenal … it was a poor decision by Jake O’Brien to raise his arm … but these things happen … players don’t mean to do it … a lot of things didn’t go our way … a lot of people going down injured and the referee blowing up for them … it’s a different football club here … quite tough here, you know what I mean? … we play tough and we expect the referees to be the same … they’re saying [Saliba on Barry] was insignificant contact … it may well have been … but they come up with new words for every decision, don’t they?! … the last two games have been Chelsea and Arsenal, two of the best teams in the league … for us to be disappointed … says quite a lot … I can only praise the players … great spirit … we made it difficult for Arsenal but not difficult enough … we gave them a way out … an easy decision … they should have had to work a lot harder for a goal.”
