Even when we were four goals behind, our belief in crushing Celtic never wavered

LASK hero Samuel Adeniran insisted they always believed they would get past Celtic in the Champions League... despite being four goals down.

The Austrian champions pulled off a stunning comeback in the play-off round to beat Celtic 5-1 after extra time and qualify for the league phase of the tournament for the first time ever.

Adeniran was a thorn in the Hoops' side after netting a double. And he had no doubt his time could produce a footballing miracle. He said: "I always believed we could do it and my teammates believed we could do it.

"So when we actually achieved it, it was an incredible feeling. I’m very grateful for the support we received, the teamwork at the club, and the strength we showed. We had a mentality where we were willing to suffer, and we didn't pay attention to everyone who said we couldn't do it.

"Ultimately, it’s about ignoring what people say and believing in yourself, believing in your team and believing you can do it - and we did."

And LASK keeper Lukas Neuwirth reckons everyone would have accepted the tie was over after Celtic took the lead in Austria. He admitted: "I think most people had already written us off after Glasgow anyway, and then when they went 1-0 up, it was clear to everyone the tie was over.

"No one would have believed we could come back like that. But last season, we proved that we can come back from a deficit, although I can't remember us coming back from four goals down!

"This team can achieve so much. I'm just incredibly happy that we've done it. We're playing in the Champions League!"
