Jean-Philippe Gbamin was the subject of interest from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp for 'six months', according to the player's agent.
The Everton midfielder is wanting to end his 'nightmare' spell at Goodison Park after completing a switch from Mainz in 2019 for £25 million.
Gbamin has made just six appearances in the Premier League due to lengthy injuries and is currently on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Everton signed the Ivory Coast international to replace Idrissa Gueye after his £30m move to PSG, but the midfielder broke down in training after two games and required thigh surgery.
Agent Bernard Collignon told BBC Sport: "We will have to find another project for him. I am the one who chose Everton for him because it would have been a stepping stone to move on elsewhere.
"There was interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and even Jurgen Klopp wanted to sign him for Liverpool six months before but now Jean-Philippe wants to go back to Germany."
