At the moment, through four weeks of the 2022 NFL season, there is just one undefeated team — the 4-0 Philadelphia Eagles. Then you have a logjam of 3-1 squads like the Bills, Cowboys, Packers, Dolphins, Chiefs, Vikings, and Giants.
Here’s where it gets messy: 15 (!) NFL teams are in football purgatory at 2-2 right now. In other words, that’s 15 teams where we’re not sure how good (or bad) they are.
For future First-Ballot Hall of Famer Tom Brady — even he seems to be surprised by the amount of mediocre football being played around the NFL. You know the league isn’t playing well overall if a 23-year veteran, who has been there and done that, doesn’t think highly of the current product:
Tom Brady was asked about the parity in the NFL with so many teams currently 2-2. "I think there's a lot of bad football from what I watch. I watch a lot of bad football. Poor quality of football. That's what I see."

Woof, Brady certainly didn’t mince his words. Let’s rewind that quote:
“I think there’s a lot of bad football from what I watch. I watch a lot of bad football. Poor quality of football. That’s what I see.”
Indeed, while we might have a clear idea of the true Super Bowl contenders, there’s a big glut of squads not worth writing home about. And one final word to the wise to the experienced Brady, not that I have to remind him: His struggling Buccaneers are one of those middling 2-2 teams.
Though, given Brady’s high standard of play — I’m sure his less-than-flattering comments were about his own team, on some level, too.
NFL fans had lots of thoughts about Brady's opinion on the current state of the league

I said this week 1. And people were saying “it’s just week 1” but it’s like almost every team looked bad. And they still do 😭 https://t.co/chS0LSEZWw

When the NFL & NFLPA drastically reduce developmental time in the offseason and preseason this is what we get. https://t.co/4EjcaARUUF

He’s right. Most games are going under. Primetime games have been borderline unwatchable.
Really hasn’t been a great start to the season https://t.co/71HKCfx57M
