Evangelos Marinakis reveals Nottingham Forest transfer plans ahead of January window

Nottingham Forest will sign at least two players in the January transfer window, owner Evangelos Marinakis has revealed.

The Reds have already announced the arrival of Brazilian midfielder Gustavo Scarpa ahead of the transfer window opening in the new year and the winter recruitment will not be ending there for the Reds.

Head coach Steve Cooper will have a minimum of two new faces, in addition to Scarpa, come the end of next month as Forest look to boost their hopes of avoiding relegation from the Premier League.

It is a well-known fact now that 23 players joined the club in the summer transfer window, a spending spree that Marinakis has labelled "unavoidable". The spending will continue in January, but a number of fringe players will likely move on in order to make room in Cooper's 25-man squad.

Speaking to the Telegraph about his plans for the January window, Marinakis said: "We will try to get at least an additional two players which will help us. That is the plan for the technical team and coaching staff, but we believe in the players we already have."

The moves will be part of Marinakis' greater plan for success, something he is passionate about achieving with the Reds. He continued: "It’s very important to deliver what you say and promise, and I have done that throughout my life to achieve success. I will continue to do it.

"You have to remember it is 23 years since Forest were last in the top division. We will not rest as we want the club to be higher than it is now.

"The competition and opponents are much stronger now but we are very optimistic for the future. The immediate goal is to stay in the division and to be better in all areas."
