Evan Reid 'one in a million' as hunt for missing man stretches into second week

The girlfriend of missing Evan Reid described her partner as 'one in a million' in an emotional post more than a week after the Ayrshire man vanished.

Nicole Murray said the family still has so many 'unanswered questions' over the 31-year-old's sudden disappearance last Saturday (March 25).

Evan was on a train home to Irvine at around 10pm when he left the train at Gilmour Street station in Paisley.

Police say that CCTV footage captured Evan's last known movements on Inchinnan Road in the town at 10.06pm.

Nicole posted on Facebook last night: "My love, my life, my everything.

"Over a week now since you have went missing, over a week since I have seen your face, over a week since I have heard your voice.

"So many unanswered questions we all have.

"You are one in a million, so loved by so many."

Nicole received a text from Evan on the night in question following a night out in Glasgow. He said there was 'something dodgy happening' before losing contact. Nicole previously told how neither Evan doesn't know anyone in Paisley and the family have no connection to the area.

Evan is described as being around 5ft 8in and of slim build. When last seen he was wearing a khaki green jumper, a black body warmer, dark blue jeans and grey trainers.

On the one week anniversary of Evan's disappearance, Paisley cops stopped pedestrians and drivers to raise awareness of the case on Saturday night.

Officers are appealing to anyone who was in the Inchinnan Road area near to the River Cart on March 25 at around 10pm, either on foot, such as dog walkers, or in a vehicle, to come forward.

Community policing inspector Laura Hamill is leading on the enquiry and she said: “We are continuing our efforts to trace Evan Reid and would urge anyone who may have seen him on the night in question or thereafter to come forward.

“No matter how small you think the information is, it could be the vital piece we need to find out what happened to Evan.

“I’d also like to ask anyone who has premises with a camera or vehicles with dashcams that are in the surrounding area to check for signs of Evan, if we have not already made contact with you.”

Nicole had previously issued an appeal for information, saying “This is completely out of character for him, especially to have been on his way home and then get off at another station.

“Obviously we don’t know what kind of state he is in but this is not like him at all. He has no mental health issues, we just don’t know what’s happened.

“He was in Glasgow on a night out. He text me to say he was getting the train home. He said to me [in a text] there was something happening, something dodgy was happening. I didn’t know then that he was on the train already.

“We are waiting on CCTV from inside the train to see if that shows anything.”

Evan’s family have also released the following statement: “We would like to say thank you to the local communities and police in Paisley for their support and help to find Evan.

“Evan is a much loved member of our family and we plead for anyone with information to please speak to the police.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Police Scotland by calling 101, quoting incident number 4112 of Saturday, March 25.
