Evacuated Coalsnaughton residents to be homeless for months due to ground movement

  • Around 100 homes in Coalsnaughton, Clackmannanshire, were evacuated on May 18 due to concerns over ground movement and unsafe structures.
  • Residents have been informed they will not be able to return home for at least another eight weeks while investigations into the cause continue.
  • The Prime Minister confirmed that the Mining Remediation Authority (MRA) is conducting daily investigations and collaborating with the council to support affected residents.
  • Labour MP Brian Leishman raised the issue in Parliament, highlighting the "emotional and financial distress" of residents and urging UK Government support.
  • Scottish Justice Secretary Neil Gray expressed "significant concern" about the extended investigation timeline and has contacted the UK Energy Secretary to ensure swift action.
