UK Eurovision winner says show the was most terrifying time of her life

Euphoric and joyful is how Katrina Leskanich describes her memories of winning the Eurovision Song Contest with Love Shine a Light 26 years ago.

“Performing was the most terrifying, trouser-cacking two minutes and 58 seconds of my life, followed by an incredible high,” she says in an interview ahead of last year's contest about the night that brought the UK’s last triumph in the competition.

“Back in 1997 everybody was very friendly and supportive in the green room. All the other acts gathered around us with a glass of champagne waiting for our win to be announced. There was this feeling of camaraderie and the room erupted when we won.
