Many people tuned into watch BBC's The One Show on Friday night as the Eurovision 2023 host city was due to be announced.
It came down to a tight contest between Glasgow and Liverpool, with both cities running strong campaigns to hold the iconic singing competition. As the drama built up, the One Show went live to both Glasgow and Liverpool to get a sense of the atmosphere there, as well as what winning the battle to host would mean to each.
The UK is hosting Eurovision next year on behalf of Ukraine. Ukraine won the event this year and should be welcoming the world to Kiev in 2023 but sadly this has been deemed not possible because of the Russian invasion. The UK is stepping in after it finished second in this year's contest with artist Sam Ryder.
