One city has become even more of a hot tip to host Eurovision for the UK next year as bookmakers have adjusted their odds once again, with a announcement on who has won the race expedited in the autumn.
There was delight for Newcastle, Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield earlier this month when, live on Zoe Ball's Radio 2 Breakfast Show, they were confirmed to be on the shortlist to stage Eurovision in May 2023, after it was decided that this year's winning country Ukraine couldn't do the honours.
Before the final cities in the running, many experts, Eurovision fans and bookies had decided that Glasgow was the leading contender and now, with London not even in the running to host, it has pulled away from its rivals in the latest odds from William Hill. The leading bookies now have Glasgow at 1/2 to be the UK city to stage win the bid for Eurovision 2023, with Birmingham, who have just held a massively successful Commonwealth Games, inching ahead of Manchester into second spot in the odds.
