Eurovision fans unhappy after Zoe Ball scraps 'important' announcement

Eurovision Song Contest fans were disappointed after a promised announcement was scrapped.

Yesterday, BBC Radio 2 breakfast host Zoe Ball told her listeners "important" Eurovison news would be announced today which sent fans across the country into meltdown. She said: "Important Eurovision news on this show tomorrow, what could it be now?"

People tuned in hoping for a UK representative or ticket information but were met with radio silence. Throughout the three-hour-long programme, there was no mention at all of the contest or the previously promised announcement.

With March just around the corner and very little still known about the contest's vital components, UK fans were unhappy to be left high and dry after getting their hopes up.

One listener said: "WHERE IS THE ANNOUNCEMENT? ZOE BALL YOU LIED TO US." Another added: "So in the end... we got nothing. No Eurovision-related news/announcement happened during Zoe Ball's breakfast show this morning, even though we were teased some news yesterday."

While a third concerned listener said: "It's a bit weird that the #Eurovision announcement scheduled to be on @BBCRadio2 this morning went missing in action. No mention of the contest on Zoe Ball's show whatsoever."

Rumours have been circulating that the UK representative will be announced in just a matter of days, with alt-pop artist Rina Sawayama bagging the role. The BBC inadvertently fuelled the speculation even more after a large cut out of the singer recently appeared in their offices alongside other prominent names in the company, leading fans to question why she's now part of their line up.
