Eurovision fans David Lever, 58, and Nigel May, 54, travelled from Brighton for the week after they managed to get tickets for all the Eurovision dress rehearsals and the Grand Final on Saturday, spending around £1,400 in total. Nigel said: "Of all the Eurovisions I’ve been to, my best welcome has been Liverpool. It’s been amazing."
Graham Monday, 52, and Tony Minion, 62, also from Brighton were seen queuing up at the Cavern Club as they said their favourite thing about Liverpool was the people. Backing Finland, the friends praised EuroVillage as they said it was the "best they'd been to" and praised the city for being "really well organised".
Crowds could also be seen at the EuroCamp at Chavasse Park in Liverpool ONE this afternoon where an LGBTQI+ focussed three-day festival is being held.
Colette, 52 and Beth Thompson, 29, from Knowsley both say that Liverpool deserves Eurovision. They said: "It’s a music city, a people city and this is all about people coming together." Beth, who now lives in Warwickshire, tried to get tickets to Turin last year for Eurovision but her travel plans got cancelled. But finding out it was to be hosted in Liverpool, she "couldn’t get here quick enough".
