Eurovision fans joked they were "left with nightmares" after hearing a creepy laugh from Serbia's performer
The Eurovision Song Contest kicked off on Saturday night in Liverpool and fans got stuck right in with the incredible performances and moments.
Serbia were the fifth performers and Luke Black took to the stage to sing Samo Mi Se Spava.
The singer blew the audience away with their unique entry but viewers at home were focused on Luke's 'evil laugh' towards the end of the song.
Fans rushed to Twitter to compare it to Pennywise the clown as well as the Joker.
"Bro what's with the Joker laugh? STOP PLEASE #Eurovision2023 Dude is entering his Joker arc," one said.
Another said: "I felt that evil laugh in my heart," while one joked: "WTF that laugh really creeped me out XD Not really my thing, as I did not really hear the voice that much."
"What a performance from Serbia! Adding that little evil laugh makes their performances become more iconic!" one impressed viewer posted.
One creeped-out fan said: "I'm going to have nightmares of that laugh now."
"The laugh sounded like Pennywise," one made the comparison.
Luke has been described as the 'Serbian pop alchemist', with his music ranging between electropop and experimental pop.
Samo Mi Se Spava translates to I'm Just Sleepy and the chorus includes the lyrics: "I just wanna sleep forever, I like it better when I dream."
Luke, real name Luka Ivanović, recently opened up about the song and how he came up with the hit.
"I had an initial idea of a mantra before the pandemic saying, ‘I just want to sleep for a long time’," he told NME.
"There was a moment in 2019 where I was talking to my mom and I had a very intense conversation and said, ‘Listen, there is so much pressure and so much negative energy’ – you could feel something was coming up."
"I just really wanted to go back home because I’d been living in London for a couple of years. I just wanted to sleep and play video games. I just couldn’t handle the world. Then that all only became more so when the pandemic hit."
