In a significant move, the European Union (EU) has initiated a formal investigation into Elon Musk's digital empire, represented by X, formerly Twitter, under the recently revamped Digital Services Act (DSA).
The European Commission, responsible for enforcing the DSA on large platforms, declared the commencement of a "formal proceeding" today. The investigation aims to scrutinise potential breaches related to risk management, content moderation, dark patterns, advertising transparency, and data access for researchers.
