Europe Today: Exclusive interview with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev

All eyes on Davos where EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen speaks on the main stage today. This, as transatlantic tensions over a looming trade war boil over and European industry snarls back at the ‘ludicrous demands’ to hand over Greenland. Meanwhile, President Trump has linked his threat to annex Greenland to his failure to win this year's Nobel Peace Prize.

To make sense of all of this, our Brussels Correspondant Stefan Grobe joins us in our studio. Also in the show is President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who joins Europe Today for an exclusive interview.

Then, with EU-US relations strained and the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni offering to act as a mediator, our correspondent Giorgia Orlandi shares the perspective from Rome on the rising transatlantic tensions.

Lastly, European industry is also worried about the dangerous turn these tariffs could have on people, companies and the global economy. Our Jakub Janas takes a look at what exactly is at stake for Europe.
