From an extended ladder above Plaza de los Reyes, firefighters in Ceuta unfurled a banner on Monday, 31 August, with a plea meant for the rest of the continent: 'Europa, ayuda', Spanish for 'Europe, help'.
The image spread within hours, raised by the crews who have absorbed the enclave's migration crisis for a month.
