West Ham United's players stand on the brink of imortality as they look to win their first European trophy since 1999. As they prepare to face Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final, a win in Prague would be their first major trophy in over 23 years.
This would eclipse even the UEFA Intertoto Cup and is a first major European final since 1976 when they lost out in the European Cup Winners' Cup to Anderlecht. For David Moyes and his men it is a chance to write their names into the history books and become just the second ever winners of this competition.
Roma were victorious last season when they beat Feyenoord 1-0. The Italian side were Europa League runners up this season but for West Ham this is a bigger occasion. It has been a troublesome domestic season having remained in and around the relegation zone for much of the year.
A late push, buoyed by progress in Europe, helped them to a 14th place finish. The iritations of finishing 16 points worse off and seven places further down would all be banished should they come out on top against Vincenzo Italiano's men.
There are other incentives on offer here as well. Having played 14 games to get to this point, entering in the play-off round, they have the best record of any side in the competition, winning 13 and drawing just one. The only side to stop them from coming out on top were Gent in the quarter-final first leg.
It is a run of results that has seen them score 33 goals and concede just eight in reply. For that, they have already banked an impressive £9.09m having won all their group matches - which brings in €5000,000 (£430,000) per win - there have been extra bonuses for topping the group, reaching the knockout stages and then an extra reward for each round since.

Should they go on to win the competition then they will benefit from another €2m (£1.72m) as the winner gets €5m(£4.31m) and the runner up €3m (£2.58m).
There is also the boost of being awarded a place in the Europa League as well. It would be the first time since getting to the semi-final last season that the Hammers have been in the competition, should they qualify.
