The owner of Cheshire-based holidays company Eurocamp has completed a €1bn deal to become a European giant.
European Camping Group has snapped up Vacanceselect Group following the recent approval of the French competition authorities. The deal was first announced in July 2022.
As a result, the new group has more than tripled its campsite portfolio - providing holidaymakers a choice of 500 destinations across France, Italy, Spain, Croatia and The Netherlands. It is also targeting a turnover of €700m this year.

The group's brands now include Eurocamp, Homair and Roan, Canvas Holidays and Vacanceselect. Its owned campsite portfolio now extends to 100 sites with Tohapi joining its existing Marvilla Parks brand.
ECG president Alain Calmé said: "With the integration of Vacanceselect I am delighted that European Camping Group is now the leading provider of outdoor accommodation across Europe.
"By uniting the talented and passionate professionals from across both these businesses we will be able to ensure our wide range of parcs and accommodation set in a variety of locations from beachside to mountainside, continue to enchant, entertain and delight families from across all of Europe.
"But above all, this allows us to share best practices to improve the quality, accessibility and sustainability of our offer."
Eurocamp managing director Darren Marsh added: "This deal provides Eurocamp customers with a truly unrivalled choice of holiday parcs across the most popular travel hotspots in Europe.
"We can’t wait to introduce this new holiday parc portfolio to our guests in the coming months."
