Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney slams 'disgusting' trolls who send family her nudes

Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney has hit out at cruel trolls who taunt her family with nude images of her grabbed from scenes on the show.

The stunning actress branded her online bullies "disgusting" as she opened up about her struggles with life in the limelight after finding new levels of fame in the hit HBO series.

Sydney, 25, discussed her ordeal at the hands of bitter trolls who targeted her family members as well as her admitting feeling the hate campaign is "unfair."

She also made comparisons between the issues highlighted by Euphoria and those who harassed her via social media.

Talking in a new chat with British GQ Sydney said: "It got to the point where they were tagging my family. My cousins don’t need that. It’s completely disgusting and unfair."

The images originated from naked scenes acted out by Sydney in Euphoria - the show that made her famous globally.

Sydney continued to describe how the cruel viewers had used the unsavoury behaviours she was trying to shine a light in the show against her and her relatives.

She continued: "You have a character that goes through the scrutiny of being a sexualized person at school and then an audience that does the same thing. I think it’s ridiculous. I’m an artist, I play characters. It makes me want to play characters that piss people off more."

Sydney - who hails from Spokane, Washington - then discussed feeling insecure about her body growing up as she admitted "I was embarrassed," and claiming she adopted the persona she felt people expected of her due to her body.

She explained: "I had boobs before other girls and I felt ostracized for it. So I did play every sport and I studied really hard and I did everything that people wouldn’t think I would do, to show them that my body doesn’t define who I am."

Sydney has previously confessed to feeling that "people forget" she is playing a character and that they believe she is a "sex symbol" because she gets naked on screen.

However, she has sworn that she has "no problems" acting the roles she is given and that she "won't stop doing them" despite public perception.

The star excitedly shared the casting news with her fans on Instagram by uploading a screenshot of a Deadline article announcing the rile and captioning it: "Time to save the universe."

She will also be acknowledged at the 25th annual GQ Men Of The Year awards which take place in London on November 16.

The December/January issue of British GQ is available from newsstands and digital download from Tuesday, November 29.
