EU staff criticise bloc chief's 'double standard' on Israel-Hamas conflict

EU staff around the world have written to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen criticising her "unconditional support" of Israel. The letter, which lays bare deep divisions within the bloc on how to approach the war, says the European Union is “losing all credibility” as a “fair, equitable and humanist broker”.

Signed by 842 officials, the letter accuses the European Commission of giving a "free hand to the acceleration and the legitimacy of a war crime" in Gaza, where more than 4,000 people have been killed in less than two weeks.
