The European Union's highest court has ruled in favor of Audi in a trademark dispute against a spare parts company. The long-standing legal battle was decided in favor of the car manufacturer, solidifying its exclusive rights over its iconic four-ring logo.
The legal battle began when an Austrian spare parts manufacturer, Autec AG, attempted to use a logo with four overlapping circles resembling the Audi emblem. Autec AG argued that their logo was intended to represent the compatibility of their spare parts with Audi vehicles. However, Audi saw this as an infringement on their well-established trademark and subsequently took legal action.
